PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JUNE 29, 2019

Well, it's been a few weeks since I've had to use the image on the right, but after having such great writing time the last couple of Progress Reports, I guess it had to happen sooner or later.

Did work on my Sherlock Holmes story whenever I had the opportunity, but alas I didn't get as many opportunities to write this past week as I would have liked to have gotten.

Because of a few personal commitments and the Fourth of July holiday this coming Thursday, not sure how the week ahead is going to be.
Will definitely write when I can, but there is now another project/character talking to me besides Doctor Watson that's begging for my attention, and I've learned long ago never to ignore one's muse.

In any event, take care everyone, and I'll see you around the Internet.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JUNE 22, 2019

Okay, I'm going to sound like a broken record again, but I'm still working on my Sherlock Holmes story for Airship 27.

Have broken the 9,000 word mark and still am not at the actual halfway point of the adventure yet plot wise.

I've stated my position numerous times in the past that I prefer quality over quantity, so in the end, as long as my work is an enjoyable read and a mystery worthy of the Victorian Era's premiere Consulting Detective, I'll be happy.

In any event, I better get back to writing now.
Take care, and I'll see you around the Internet.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JUNE 15, 2019

Other than wishing everybody a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, I'm afraid there isn't really anything new to report.

I am still working on my Sherlock Holmes story for Airship 27. I am past the halfway point on the standard 15,000 word minimum for a short story, but I know I am not at the halfway point for the story itself yet. So we'll see what its actual length is when I finally type "The End".

As you saw in my Fan Mail response, no word yet on a actual release date for HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE, BOOK 3: FEMME FATALE, or any of the other stuff pending.

I do know what projects I've got lined up to work on after Holmes is completed and off to my friendly neighborhood beta-proofreader for her opinion(s). Just don't know which one will lead off until I get her notes back on Holmes.

So I guess I better get back to writing now.
Take care, and I'll see you around the Internet.

FAN MAIL: FORTHCOMING PROJECTS

Fan/reader Richard Gordon posted on my professional Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/Lee-Houston-Junior-WriterEditor-176556222390227/ , asking what projects I might have that were awaiting publication.

Well Richard, there are 5/FIVE pending!😀

HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE BOOK 3: FEMME FATALE, coming soon from Pro Se Press. I've already seen the cover sketch and it looks great!

"ZEPHYR LILY", a short story I wrote for Jim Beard's 1970s themed anthology.

KIRI’S QUEST, a Companion Dragons 🐉adventure I co-wrote with my friendly neighborhood beta-proofreader Nancy Hansen for Pro Se Press' Young Pulp line.

"CHANGING HORSES" 🐎a short story I wrote for an anthology Sean Taylor is putting together,

AND WAY BACK WHEN...
"THE FAMILY BUSINESS" a short story for an anthology Tommy Hancock was working on called Strong City.

The last I heard on the subject(s), HUGH & LILY should be released before the end of 2019 for sure.
But as things develop, I will keep all of you informed.

Thanks for asking Richard, and if anyone has any questions or comments, just post them at the end of any article here on my writing blog, on my aforementioned Facebook page, or on Twitter @leehoustonjr

Going back to writing now.
See you around the Internet.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JUNE 8, 2019

CAREFULLY PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER...

Yes, I am still working on my Sherlock Holmes story.

Contrary to popular belief, writing is NOT easy, no matter what your project is.

Research, fact checking, and proofreading, let alone the actual writing to begin with; ALL contribute to the overall work and make the difference between an okay tale and a great story.

But I AM WELL INTO my Holmes adventure, so I better get back to writing now.
See you around the Internet!

JEZEBEL JOHNSTON #5: DANSEUSE IS OUT!

The official press release accompanies this post, but I'm excited to announce that the fifth book in my friendly neighborhood beta-proofreader's lady pirate series is out as Airship 27 proudly releases Jezebel Johnston 5: Danseuse by Nancy Hansen.

With a cover by Ted Hammond, who won an award for the cover to Jezebel Johnston 4: Mourning Star, Jezebel finds herself working for a new crew and Captain with a plan to acquire riches, as Johnston goes undercover as a barmaid to spy upon other sailors to learn when treasure laden ships set sail.
Yet when an old enemy returns with designs of revenge, Jez soon finds herself wondering who, if anybody, she can trust other than herself.

Accompanied by interior illustrations by award winning artist Rob Davis, the book is currently available in print and Kindle version, while Nancy is already working on Johnston # SIX!

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JUNE 1, 2019

I know what you're thinking right now.
YES, I'm still working on my Sherlock Holmes story.
YES, I'm far from done yet, but I am further along on the project than I was when I wrote my previous project report.

WHY?
As I've explained before, mysteries are more difficult and time consuming to write than other genres because you have to get every detail and clue and all the other things that make a great story as right as humanly possible, and that's especially true when you're writing an adventure featuring one of, if not THE premiere private detective of the entire mystery genre!

But every day I get further along, so in the end it will be worth it.
With that in mind, I better get back to writing now.
Take care, and I'll see you around the Internet.
