PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING MAY 30, 2015

I'm only human folks!
Okay folks. As an average human being I am not a fast writer, nor a prolific one.
But I AM a writer who keeps at it until the job is done.

The invitational short story is finally at its prospective publisher.
I had a blast writing it, and was thrilled to be asked to contribute to that anthology.
I just wish the personal problems that sprang up during that work never occurred, for it took far longer to create that story than I thought it would.

Thankfully my mother is finally out of the hospital and doing well at home, so there shouldn't be any more problems rearing their ugly head in the foreseeable future.

What this means is that I am now going full speed ahead on completing ALPHA, BOOK 2: WAYWARD SON.
When exactly this task will be completed remains to be seen, for there are only a few chapters left to write.
But then I'll want to give the complete novel a final read through before submitting it to the publisher, so hopefully by the end of this summer.

After that?

Better get back to work now.
See you around the Internet.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING MAY 23, 2015

IT'S THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND HERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
A MOMENT TO PAUSE AND SALUTE OUR VETERANS, WHO HAVE KEPT THIS COUNTRY AND THE WORLD SAFE OVER THE YEARS SO THAT YOU AND YOURS CAN ENJOY FREEDOM, LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

Now then...
Sadly, some personal problems have reared their ugly head(s) over this past week. I personally am all right, but there was a lot of stuff I had to stop and deal with concerning family back home.

Unfortunately, that seriously ate into my writing time/opportunities. It's not that I didn't do any writing at all this past week, only that I didn't get enough done where I could actually report that there was any progress on various projects since the previous week's progress report.

Hopefully this week will be better.
Most of the aforementioned issues have been addressed to the best of my ability to do so, and the rest were never truly in my hands to begin with. I can only sit on the sidelines and see how everything turns out.
Take care, and I'll see you around the Internet.
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING MAY 16, 2015

Okay folks, let's take stock of where I am at the moment.

I will be making the final proofreading of my invitational short story and sending it in to the publisher this week.

Chapter 15 of ALPHA, BOOK 2: WAYWARD SON is done. Chapter 16 is waiting for my friendly neighborhood beta-proofreader to say her schedule is clear so I can send it to her for review, and I'm working on Chapter 17.

Although there is no deadlines on them, I want to get at least one of the two short stories I originally committed to this year done before I take on my next novel size project.
What I've been referring to as "The Invitational Short Story" is a project separate from the existing commitments that the publisher asked if I would be interested in writing.

I am kicking around some ideas for whatever will become HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE: BOOK 3, but I haven't made any final(?) decisions on that project yet.

And there is a few other ideas that have been bouncing around in my mind of late, but what will become of them remains to be seen.

Over all a pretty interesting, if not completely productive writing week if I do say so myself.
Better get back to it now.
See you around the Internet.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING MAY 9, 2015

I have completed that invitational short story I've been working on the past few weeks!
Gonna go back in a few days and give it a final read through before submitting it to the publisher who invited me to participate in the anthology.
Meanwhile, back to work on ALPHA, BOOK 2: WAYWARD SON!

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING MAY 2, 2015

Okay folks, a very short progress report this weekend because sadly, there was no writing progress since my last report.
I have spent most of this past week fighting a very nasty head cold. It was so bad, I couldn't even bear to have my reading glasses on. The added pressure on my sinuses across the bridge of my nose was just too much to take.
Except for a lingering headache, I do feel much better now, and have managed to take care of The Free Choice E-zine in my capacity as its Editor-In-Chief.
I'm hoping to get some serious writing work done this week. I'm 11,000 (out of 15,000) words into that invitational short story, and there is still ALPHA, BOOK 2: WAYWARD SON to finish before I take on any further projects.
With that in mind, I hope everyone has a great week, and I'll see you around the Internet.                                    Lee Houston, Junior
