PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JANUARY 25, 2020

Cover art by Larry Nadolsky
Writing proceeding apace on SHERLOCK HOLMES: "THE ADVENTURE OF THE UNIMAGINABLE".

Will return to the SOLITAIRE novel once that is completed, but spent a good chunk of the past week promoting the release of HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE VOLUME 3: FEMME FATALE! πŸ˜€

Hopefully both in progress projects will be done by late Spring/early Summer because there are other things I want to write, beginning with what will be HUGH MONN FOUR!

In the meantime, I better get back to writing now!
Take care, and I'll see you around the Internet.

HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE: FEMME FATALE NOW AVAILABLE!

Cover art by Larry Nadolsky
πŸ˜€THE WAIT IS OVER!πŸ˜€

The third book (and second full length novel) in my HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE series has been released in both print and Kindle formats by Pro Se Press on Amazon!

The private detective of the far flung future is back in a brand new adventure that hits a little too close to home when his girlfriend's apartment is ransacked and her roommate goes missing!
But is the lady on the lam from the villain(s) or the authorities?

From Pro Se's press release...
NEW PULP’S FAVORITE RETRO FUTURISTIC GUMSHOE IS BACK!
Author Lee Houston, Jr. returns to the glistening and grimy streets of science fiction mystery with his own futuristic shamus.

In the early days of Pro Se,” says Editor in Chief Tommy Hancock, “not only was Lee Houston, Jr. one of our first authors, he also introduced one of the characters that people still ask about. Taking everything a fan of 1950s type detectives would enjoy and wrapping it up in the glittery, galaxy studded package of the future, HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE shows the impact of Pulp as a style and what a dedicated writer like Lee can do with it. FEMME FATALE is a long awaited addition to this fantastic series.”

Even in the future, love and lust can get a Private Eye killed.
Hugh Monn finds his latest case strikes too close to home when his girlfriend's apartment is trashed and her roommate missing. But is the lady on the run from the villain(s) or the authorities?
As Hugh fights to find both the truth and the woman, he trips across a few old favorites of any galactic gumshoe- thieves, a blackmail scheme, and murder.
But the lines between love and hate, life and crime, victim and Femme Fatale get blurred as they tangle about Hugh’s proverbial neck!

Featuring an atmospheric cover by Larry Nadolsky, main title design by Sean Ali, and formatting by Carol Morris, HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE VOLUME THREE: FEMME FATALE is available in print for $9.99 or the Kindle foronly $2.99.
The book is also available to Kindle Unlimited members for free.

And there you have it! Hope you like the book everybody!—lh,jr.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JANUARY 18, 2020

Keeping it short since I've still got a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT to post.

After two days of intense researchπŸ”Ž concerning REDACTED and double checking my story's time line in regard to historical facts and the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle canon, work progresses on "Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Unimaginable" once more. πŸ˜€

Currently at 18,000+ words and will probably be ending somewhere in the early 20,000s.

Gonna get back to writing now.
See you around the Internet.

BIBLIOGRAPHY 2020

Since I started FILLING BLANK SPACES in 2013, with this being the beginning of a new year, I am making my annual post to let everyone know what creative works I have available for your reading pleasure.

Sadly, 2019 saw more writing than publication except for here and The Free Choice E-zine.
Previous blog posts will help you track the current progress of SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE ADVENTURE OF THE UNIMAGINABLE and the SOLITAIRE novel.

But there is news on the PENDING front!

"Changing Horses", the short story I wrote in 2014 for Sean Taylor's HOOKER PUNK anthology is now scheduled for publication this year! 😁 More details when available.

COMPANION DRAGONS: KIRI'S QUEST from 2018, HUGH MONN PRIVATE DETECTIVE BOOK 3: FEMME FATALE from last year, and THE FAMILY BUSINESS short story I wrote for the proposed STRONG CITY anthology in 2011 are all still pending at Pro Se Press.

HUGH MONN, PRIVATE DETECTIVE BOOK 3: FEMME FATALE RELEASED ON AMAZON IN BOTH PRINT AND KINDLE FORMAT JANUARY 15, 2020 FROM PRO SE!
But the official announcement wasn't made until January 19.

Although mourning the loss of his beloved wife, Jim Beard still has my ZEPHYR LILY story I created last year for his 1970s anthology that I also contributed some editorial assistance on, so when the time comes on that project...

πŸ˜•Yeah, I can see the "dwindling output" over the last couple of years too, but if you factor in the PENDING material coupled with my editorial work listed above along with being Editor-In-Chief of The Free Choice E-zine plus how time consuming writing can be when done properly...

In any event, everything already published is available on Amazon via my author's page, and I hope you enjoy my past, present, and future creative endeavors.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JANUARY 11, 2020

♫If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all...♫
OH BOY!
At least I'm still here!
It's been a pretty rough week since the last Progress Report...
My car broke down, forcing me to miss the TWO doctor (and I've still yet to have one with a TARDIS owner!πŸ˜‰) appointments that were scheduled.
One's been rescheduled for later this month, and the other rescheduling is pending.
THANKFULLY the car has been fixed so I am mobile again. πŸ˜€
But if you haven't figured out yet where all of this is leading to...
Unfortunately I got hardly any writing done last week on anything at all beyond my blogging responsibilities between here and The Free Choice E-zine.
So I'm chomping at the bit (so to speak) to get back to it.
I am going to try to finish SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE ADVENTURE OF THE UNIMAGINABLE before I return to the SOLITAIRE novel.
So with that in mind...

Take care everybody, and I'll see you around the Internet.

PROGRESS REPORT: WEEK ENDING JANUARY 4, 2020

OOPS!😧
Almost typed "2019" in the title, and this is the first Progress Report for 2020!
Anyway...

While more than during the previous Christmas week, not as much actual writing during this past New Year's Week than a "normal" week, whatever the heck those are.

Like I wrote last time, my Muse has me going around in circles.
I was working on SHERLOCK HOLMES: "THE ADVENTURE OF THE UNIMAGINABLE" until she brought me SOLITAIRE.
Then as the year approached its end, back came HOLMES, and now SOLITAIRE is lurking on the horizon, at least until I can find some viable information on REDACTED to complete the HOLMES story.

Isn't the life of a writer fun? πŸ₯³

In any event, I better get back to writing now.
Take care, and I'll see you around the Internet.
